The guitar is the most popular and extensively used musical instrument in any music related program. It has own place in traditional art creation and has also become popular in many genres of music from country, to blues, to rock music at various levels.Of course there is a different style of playing guitar for every genre of music.Because of its effectiveness it is used in varied genres as blues, bluegrass, country, flamenco, folk, jazz, jota, mariachi, metal, punk, reggae, rock, soul and pop.

Guitar is a stringed instrument with 4 to 18 strings, usually 6 strings. It is played by plucking the strings with one hand while fretting the strings with the fingers of the other hand. It‘s a type of chordophone constructed from wood and strung with gut nylon or steel strings.

Guitars come in various types and styles

Electric Acoustic guitars

These are normal acoustic guitars with a magnetic pickup, apiezoelectric pickup or a microphone. The design is distinct from a semi-acoustic guitar with the addition of sound chambers within the guitar body. These are also known as “Plug in acoustic guitar due to their ability to simply to plug in to a speaker system without the need of microphones. These are commonly used in a variety of music genres where the acoustic guitar is needed with a loud volume.

Electric nylon strings guitar

These are normal electric guitars with a two way pick up system that includes a internal microphone mounted on adjustable gooseneck to optimize position. These come with a usual guitar wood with nylon strings instead of steel strings.

Acoustic guitar

They produce sound by transmitting the vibration of the strings to the air instead of relying on electronic amplification. The sound waves from the string of acoustic guitar resonate through guitars body and create sound. The main source of sound in acoustic guitars is string which is plucked with the finger.

Classical guitar

These are also known as “Spanish guitars”. These are strung with nylon strings, plucked with fingers, played in a seated position. These are as the name suggests mostly played in classical musical shows. The traditional classic guitar has 12 frets and is held on the left leg so that the hand falls at the back of the sound hole.

Silent guitar

Silent guitar come with a solid body which converts the vibration of the strings into electric current using piezoelectric pickup. The body of the guitar does not amplify the vibration of the strings into audible sound which enables musicians to practice with headphones without disturbing people around them or obtain acoustic tone under heavy amplification.

Electric guitar

These use a pickup to convert the vibration of its string into electrical impulses. The signal generated by an electric guitar is too weak to drive a loudspeaker, so its amplified before sending it to the speaker. Since the output of a electric guitar is an electric signal, this signal can be easily altered using electronic circuit to add color to the sound using effects such as reverb and distortion. It serves as a important component in genres like electric blues, rock and roll, rock music and many more.

Electric basses

Electric basses are stringed guitars like the usual guitars played with fingers or thumb by plucking with a plectrum also known as pick. It is similar to an electric guitar but with a longer neck and scale length with four to six strings. It is plugged into an amplifier or loudspeakers for live performances. Since 1960 the bass guitar has replaced double bass in popular music events. It is commonly used in genres like rock, metal, pop, punk rock, country, reggae gospel, blues and jazz. It is commonly used in solo performances in jazz, jazz fusion, Latin, funk, progressive rock and other rock.

Small guitars

They are the most compatible guitars and are available in all the above mentioned categories. Easy to carry and use makes them the most comfortable instrument to load and travel. These are good for kids, beginners and also in music learning academies.
